Share Your Home

Sharing your home may be a solution to allow you to age in place by providing help with household tasks. Our applicants went through a rigorous screening process that focuses on your safety. We match based on individual needs, what each individual can offer, personalities and lifestyles. 

 

Young adults may be required to complete up to 12 hours of household tasks per week in exchange for free rent outlined in an agreement. 

 

TASKS MAY INCLUDE:

  • Light Housework (ie: dishes, laundry, dishwasher, vacuuming)

  • Home Maintenance (ie: minor repairs, cleaning vents/gutters, painting) 

  • Moving, lifting, carrying, or reaching

  • Laundry

  • Pet Care

  • Snow removal/Seasonal Yard Maintenance 

  • Shopping/Running Errands

  • Meal Preparation

  • Gardening

  • Companionship 

  • Computer help

 

Applicants were asked to complete a criminal record and vulnerable sector check and have no history or pending charges of crimes. Applicants were also asked to submit 3 references including a character reference, employer reference and landlord reference.

 

Questions to ask yourself if considering to share your home:

  • Are you willing to share multiple areas of your home and have a room to offer to a younger adult?

  • Are you open-minded, welcoming, willing to be flexible?

  • Are you able to confront problems and find mutually beneficial solutions?

  • Do you have strong interpersonal and communication skills?

  • Can you provide any form of mentorship?

  • Do you enjoy engaging in conversation?

HOME REQUIREMENTS:

  • For this pilot, we are looked for homes in the Greater Fredericton area.

  • Have a private room available

  • Provide safe living conditions

  • Home must be sanitary/clean

NOTE:

The pilot phase has ended, we are no longer taking applications. If you are interested, you can submit your name for updates about the next phase.

The schedule for the next phase is pending as the learnings from the pilot are being fully considered and reported.
