Meet Our Team

Executive Director
Genevieve MacRae (She/Her)
Genevieve MacRae jumped into the role of Acting Executive Director at The Ville Cooperative in January 2021 and in June accepted the position on a permanent basis. Her relationship with The Ville started many years previous, very shortly after it came into existence. She moved her private music studio into the building at 241 Canada Street in 2015 and after a few years of interacting with the staff, attending events, and generally being interested, she joined the board of directors in late 2019.
With an extensive background in non-profit organizations, Genevieve knows what’s involved in keeping one alive. She has sat on several boards and volunteer committees over the years including Envirothon NB, The Canadian Forestry Association of NB, the Tay Creek Folk Festival, the Taymouth Community Association and the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival. Her non-profit work experience includes Ducks Unlimited Canada, INFOR Inc. and The Canadian Forestry Association of NB in a variety of roles.
Genevieve is excited and honoured to be the Executive Director of The Ville and looks forward to providing stability and guidance as we all Learn. Share. Grow. together
.

Administrative Manager
Shelby Ward (She/Her)
Shelby joined the Ville as the Administrative Manager in March 2021. Shelby works behind the scenes to ensure the rest of the staff have the support they need to work efficiently. Shelby loves to contribute to organizations that speak to her interests, such as art, nature and her community, and has in the past worked with organizations such as the Charlotte Street Arts Centre, and Ducks Unlimited.
When not working Shelby enjoys dabbling with a variety of artistic endeavours, birdwatching in the warmer months, or hanging around at home with her partner and pets.

ReCONNECT Coordinator
Kate Smith (She/Her)
Kate is a camp coordinator at the Ville's After School program and has recently graduated from Saint Thomas University with a double major in psychology and criminology.
“I have been a part of the Ville's After School team for about four years now. The Ville's After School program has given me the opportunity to work with many great kids. My goal for working in the program is that the kids learn lots and make many positive memories like I did when I attended elementary school here at their age.”

ReCONNECT Leade
Ashley MacDonald (She/Her)
Ashley MacDonald is a recent graduate from Saint Thomas University with a double major in Psychology and Anthropology.
One of the many reasons why Ashley loves working at The Ville in the After School program is working with the children. She loves how much fun she has with the team while learning so much from the kids and about life itself! Ashley has a huge soft spot for the environment and animals, and her hobbies outside of work include travelling, camping, spending time with friends and family and learning about/researching major world issues.
